Who wouldn't want a mini present every day in December?
One of the best parts of Christmas, is the advent calenders that open every day to reveal a yummy chocolate treat. Imagine if advent calenders revealed more exciting things like beer, jewellery or nail polish? This is a reality now, with various companies offering alternatives to chocolate advent calenders. Boots, Selfridges, Liberty and even Tesco offer beauty calenders that contain various mini products to keep you pampered throughout the Christmas period. Yankee Candles have created an Advent House for 24 mini candles and Ciate offer 23 mini versions of their nail polishes, including one full sized version for Christmas eve. Jewellery advent calenders are a fairly new thing, with Topshop creating a Freedom jewellery calender with various bits of dainty earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Not surprisingly it's sold out.
Not On The High Street have a wide variety of food based advent calenders such as beer, tea and sweets in mini pots for each day. The website also offers photos, wooden and 3D advent calenders. Jelly Belly even have their own calender, with 24 mini bags and so far, that's the advent calender I have my eye on. If you stick to chocolate, go for Hotel Chocolate's milk, dark or truffle variety of the classic and still the best, a Lindt calender. Not just for kids!
