Balmain AW13

Eastern opulence shone through as the main theme of the collection, full of sumptuous metallics and luxurious fabrics. Jewel tones in pink, purple, green and blue contrasted against silky whites and blacks. Diamond prints and padding added interest to shoulder padded jackets and harem trousers topped off with polo necks; reminiscent of Middle Eastern Sultans and Disney character Aladdin, meets 80's power dressing. Oversized gold belts defined the waists, which created a strong silhouette along side the broad padded shoulders and voluptuous draped hips. Statement earrings of large jewelled proportions, hung off ear lobes like door knockers and dominated the face. Therefore make up defined only the cheek bones with groomed brows.

Hair was secured with slight volume off the face, for the earrings, shoulders and hips to take centre stage. The strong opulent, metallic version of 80's power dressing has me lusting after each piece in the collection and already planning my winter wardrobe. Balmain's collection has by far produced the most exciting pieces for AW 13, and I'm taking notes for a potential Aladdin meets Dynasty trend.
